Stations of the Cross

Stations of the Cross

Sculptured by fourteen artists over 20 years ago in various materials including bronze, timber, steel and marble, the Stations of the Cross at Wintershall depict the events of Jesus’ death.

They are displayed at intervals as an imitation of the Via Dolorosa over about half a mile. This memorable work starts with the small St Francis Chapel and concludes at the Chapel of the Resurrection and the Dozulé Cross.

Private parties are welcome but please make an appointment to ensure you have up to date information – and a map! Telephone 01483 892167 between Monday - Friday (9am-5pm) or email us.  A small charge is made towards the cost of maintenance.

Every first Friday of the month throughout the year there is an ecumenical explanation and prayers as often as possible led by a member of the clergy starting at 7 a.m. A light breakfast is available in the Stable Cottage, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hutley a few yards from the main house.

School groups are welcome to walk the Stations of the Cross as part of a Lent retreat day or any time of year. These run every year in February and March. See below for more details.
